Before You Start
Before you start middle school, you should go into your school building with a parent and find all of your classes. For more information on classes, visit the classes page . Walk from class to class starting with first hour, then second hour, and so on. You will also need to practice your combination and organize your locker so you don't have to stay after school on the first day to do so. For more locker tips visit the lockers page .
The First Day
On the first day of school you will most likely feel nervous. Don't worry, everyone will feel the same way. If you can't find one of your classes, find a nearby teacher, they will be happy to help. If you are late to one of your classes, your teacher will understand.
For the first couple of days, your goal should be to make some new friends. You can chat with your locker neighbors, and kids who you sit next to in classes. Others will be as happy that they found a friend as you will be. Make sure that you wave to your friends in the hallway and maybe even sit with them at lunch.
Adults in your school cafeteria will guide you if you are buying lunch on the first few days. Your cafeteria will most likely be larger than your elementary school cafeteria so you have a lot more options of where to sit.
Your expectations depend on the teacher. In middle school, there's a wide range of types of teachers. Teachers' personalities can range from really strict to really fun. With strict teachers, you just need to pay close attention to their directions and you should be respectful to them. With funny teachers, you can laugh along, but you shouldn't go overboard and get in trouble.
